Hermione, is a small village approximatelly 3 klm from Eperia. Hermione has been founded arround the 3rd millenium BC. According to the Greek Mythology the mythical founder of the ancient city was Hermion, son of Phormion from Argos. The ancient legends say that in this place Zeus met for the first time Hera; Persephone was abducted from Hades; and Hercules came back to the World of the living from the World of the Shadows through Kataphyki Canyon holding the threeheaded Cerberus.
The City-State of Hermione ruled the region that is known until now as Hermionis. Took part in historical events such as Agamemnon's Panhellenic campaign against Troy, better known as Iliad as well participated at naval battle of Salamis. Both historical events have been recently filmed in 2003 and 2014 films (Troy, 300 Rise of an Empire).
Today Hermione, is a peacful village living from agriculture, fishing and tourism.
